Marieke Franssen

Marieke studied at the conservatory of Amsterdam with Harrie Starreveld and received a scholarship to study at the Ensemble Modern Akademie in Frankfurt. 

She mainly focuses on playing contemporary music and plays in various modern music and improvisation projects. Marieke is a permanent member of the Doelen Ensemble, Ensemble 306 and Radio Kootwijk Live. She is a regular guest with the Nieuw Ensemble, Ensemble Modern (Frankfurt), Asko l Schönberg, Insomnio, Ensemble Courage and Ensemble Modern Orchestra.

In February 2009 she was a guest at The Banff Center (Canada) for a special recording of A Pierre by Luigi Nono. In 2009 she received the Link Prize from De Link, in Tilburg, as a soloist. She performed as a soloist in Robin de Raaff’s Flute Concerto and Luc Brewaeys’ Double Concerto with the Doelen Ensemble.
